Khatima, 12 May: The BJP Mahila Morcha state president, Ruchi Bhatt, is currently on a tour of Kumaon. She was in Khatima today where she launched a sharp attack on Congress over the Champawat case. Earlier, she was in Champawat also during the current tour.  Addressing the media here, she accused Congress of exploiting the minor victim of the alleged gangrape case as a political tool and alleged that the party had orchestrated a conspiracy to malign the ruling BJP. She announced that the BJP Mahila Morcha would stage protests across all 19 organisational districts of the party in Uttarakhand, including effigy-burning demonstrations against Congress.

Bhatt was warmly received by Mahila Morcha workers upon her arrival in Khatima, where she interacted with local journalists at the PWD guest house. She claimed that the Champawat incident had deeply angered the BJP’s women cadre and that the Morcha would respond with strong protests throughout the state. She also accused Congress of attempting to tarnish Chief Minister Dhami’s constituency through fabricated narratives, but insisted that the party had failed in its design. She described the alleged conspiracy as a shameful act driven by electoral motives ahead of the 2027 assembly elections.

Bhatt claimed that Congress had already lost credibility among women after blocking the Women’s Reservation Bill and now stands exposed for its role in the Champawat case. She asserted that BJP would never forgive such a disgraceful act and would ensure that the dignity of mothers and sisters in the state was protected. She emphasised that BJP Mahila Morcha would give Congress a fitting reply across Uttarakhand and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to women’s honour and respect.
