Dehradun, 18 May: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) held separate review meetings with senior officials of the Kumaon Division and Nainital district to assess administrative, developmental, tourism, and law-and-order matters in the region.
The Governor reviewed progress in remote and border areas and emphasised effective implementation of infrastructure projects, welfare schemes, and development programmes so that government benefits reach every citizen.

He also stated that the AIIMS Satellite Centre being built in Kichha is expected to be completed within the next two to three months, improving access to healthcare services in the region.
It was reported that the land mutation process has been simplified and made transparent. Patwaris are now visiting villages and conducting public meetings to update land records directly on-site. About 25,000 beneficiaries have already been added to revenue records under this campaign. Around 12,000 pending birth and death registration cases have been resolved, resulting in zero pending cases.
A Revenue Enforcement Committee formed to settle land disputes has resolved nearly 3,400 cases related to boundary disputes, encroachments, land measurement, irrigation channels, and family land partition matters.

The District Magistrate also stated that some homestays were being operated like commercial hotels in violation of regulations. Notices have been issued to nearly 300 operators, and cancellation proceedings are underway.
He also briefed the Governor on law and order, tourist-season traffic management, and arrangements for tourist safety and convenience.
The Governor directed officials to ensure that tourists visiting Nainital face no inconvenience and that traffic management remains smooth throughout the tourism season.
