Minister Joshi visits disaster-affected Sarkhet, inspects protective works

Dehradun, 22 May: Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi today visited Sarkhet and conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing development and protective works in the disaster-affected area. During the inspection, he directed officials of the district administration and the Irrigation Department to ensure that safety-related works in the affected regions are completed on a priority basis ahead of the upcoming monsoon season, so that local residents do not face any inconvenience.

While reviewing the condition of debris in the disaster-hit area, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi instructed officials to immediately begin channelisation work for the debris. He emphasised that it is extremely important to complete all necessary protective measures in a time-bound manner before the onset of rains, in order to minimise the risk of damage from any future disasters.

Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi also stated that an amount ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh would be provided from the MLA fund for debris channelisation and protective works in the Sarkhet area. He instructed officials to maintain proper coordination and expedite the work.

He further stated that the state government is serious about the rehabilitation and safety of disaster-affected areas and that any negligence in public welfare-related works will not be tolerated.

District Panchayat Member Veer Singh Chauhan, Additional District Magistrate KK Mishra, Executive Engineer of the Irrigation Department Dikshant Gupta, Tehsildar Surendra Singh, Gram Pradhan Sagar Panwar, Balam Singh, Pancham Singh Rawat, Vishal Panwar, and several others were present on the occasion.
