CM hands over appointment letters to 483 candidates in agriculture, irrigation depts

Dehradun, 22 May: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today handed over appointment letters to 483 selected candidates for various posts under the Irrigation and Agriculture departments at the CM’s Camp Office here. Of the total appointments, 473 posts belong to the Irrigation Department while 10 posts are under the Agriculture Department.
Paying tribute to former Chief Minister Maj Gen (Retd) BC Khanduri, Dhami observed that Khanduri had envisioned an Uttarakhand where the identity of youths would be shaped by their hard work and talent. He said the appointment letters being handed over to the youths today are proof that the State Government is fulfilling that vision.
The CM said the distribution of appointment letters was a recognition of the hard work, dedication and determination of the talented youths. Expressing confidence in the selected candidates, he expressed hope that they would discharge their responsibilities with complete sincerity, honesty and a spirit of service, while playing an important role in the development of the state and the nation. He said the success of the youths reflected the sacrifices of their parents, the struggles of their families and years of perseverance. Dhami stated that only when recruitment processes are transparent do deserving and honest people can become part of the system.
Dhami reminded that the State Government had implemented the country’s strictest anti-copying law and its results are now visible. Today, selections for government jobs are being made on the basis of merit and talent only, he said. He added that the new work culture is emerging as Uttarakhand’s greatest strength. As a result, nearly 33,000 youths have secured government jobs during the last four-and-a-half years of the government’s tenure.
Dhami called upon everyone to work with the main objective of serving Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. He remarked that no department functions merely through the buildings or the files, but through hardworking and honest people. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said the country is moving ahead with the resolve of a developed India by 2047 and that under the Prime Minister’s guidance, the State Government is continuously working to strengthen the irrigation and agriculture sectors.
The CM claimed that Uttarakhand is scaling new heights of development. He stated that the state’s GSDP growth rate has been recorded at 7.23 per cent, while per capita income has increased by around 41 per cent during the last four years. He added that the size of the state budget has crossed Rs 1 lakh crore and the unemployment rate has registered a record decline. Reverse migration has also increased significantly. He also claimed that the youths in the hills are now seeing opportunities instead of migration.
Irrigation Minister Satpal Maharaj congratulated all the selected youths and said the occasion marks the beginning of an active participation by young people in Uttarakhand’s development journey. He said the state has witnessed continuous strengthening of a transparent, fair and merit-based recruitment process under the leadership of the Chief Minister. Today, the youth of Uttarakhand have begun to feel assured that hard work, talent and commitment would certainly yield results, he added.
The minister said the Irrigation Department is not limited to canals and projects alone, but also forms a strong foundation for farmers’ prosperity, water conservation and the rural economy. He expressed confidence that the newly appointed employees would become partners in the state’s progress and fulfil the expectations of the people.
Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi said all the selected youths are beginning a new chapter in their lives. He said that after the implementation of the strict anti-copying law on the instructions of the Chief Minister, appointments are now going only to deserving and hardworking candidates. He added that lakhs of young people are also beginning new journeys through start-ups and innovation.
Among those present on the occasion were MLAs Savita Kapoor, Umesh Sharma Kau and Dalip Singh Rawat, along with Principal Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram and Secretaries Surendra Narayan Pandey and Yugal Kishore Pant.
