Dehradun, 5 Jun: On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Sambhav Manch Parivar conducted an extensive plantation drive across various parts of the city, today. Under the campaign initiated by the Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board, a plantation programme was organised near the Martyrs’ Memorial located at the Police Lines, with active participation from a large number of police personnel.
On this occasion, Police Lines RI Rajeev Rawat, Founder President of Sambhav Manch Abhishek Maindola, and several distinguished guests were present. During the event, participants pledged their commitment to environmental conservation and conveyed the message of protecting and nurturing planted saplings.
In addition, a plantation programme was also organised near Laxman Chowk in collaboration with workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The event was attended by Shishir Kant Tiwari, District President of the BJP Kisan Morcha.
Addressing the gathering, RI Rajeev Rawat stated that plantation should not be confined to a single day but must become a continuous movement aimed at securing a safer future for coming generations. He emphasised that, if every individual takes responsibility for nurturing at least one sapling until it becomes a tree, the impact of environmental challenges can be significantly reduced.
District President (Kisan Morcha) Shishir Kant Tiwari highlighted that tree plantation is essential for addressing growing concerns such as pollution, climate change, and rising temperatures. He noted that trees not only provide clean air but also play a crucial role in preserving biodiversity, maintaining groundwater levels, and strengthening ecological balance.
Abhishek Maindola said that the organisation has been actively involved for several years in campaigns related to environmental conservation, de-addiction awareness, road safety awareness, and other social causes. He appealed to citizens to plant more trees and ensure their proper care and maintenance.
All participants present at the programme reaffirmed their commitment to environmental protection and pledged to undertake more plantation activities in the future.
