Dehradun, 15 Jun: The Confederation of Indian Industry, Uttarakhand State Council, Himalaya Wellness Company, and Department of Ayush celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga today with a special session on the theme “Yoga for Wellness”.
Addressing the gathering, Dr S Farooq, Past Chairman, CII Uttarakhand & President, Himalaya Wellness Company, said, “Yoga is India’s gift to global wellbeing. At Himalaya, we believe in holistic health rooted in nature and ancient wisdom. Yoga Day is a reminder to make wellness a daily priority for ourselves and for society.”
The initiative aimed to promote immunity, health, and workplace wellbeing among employees. Over 100 participants from Himalaya Wellness Company and the CII State Office took part in the session. The programme was led by Yog Guru Mohit Rawat, who demonstrated key asanas including Bhujangasana, Ustrasana, Setu Bandhasana, Vrikshasana, Vajrasana, and pranayama. He also shared practical yoga techniques for staff in sedentary jobs to ease back pain and improve mobility. Experts from the Department of AYUSH also guided participants on various Yogasanas.
Gaurav Lamba, Director & Head – CII Uttarakhand, added, “Yoga is a powerful tool for enhancing productivity and wellbeing. CII is committed to encouraging industry to integrate wellness practices for a healthier workforce and a more balanced society.”
Seema Bhandari, Chief Pharmacy Officer, Department of Ayurveda and Unani Services, Uttarakhand, associated with Rajkiya Ayurvedic Chikitsalaya, Majra, Dehradun, was also present at the session.
The celebration reinforced both organisations’ commitment to preventive healthcare, natural wellbeing, and employee wellness.
