CM to lead International Yoga Day events in Doon

Dehradun, 15 Jun: Preparations are in full swing in Dehradun for the grand celebration of the 12th International Yoga Day. The district administration has assigned responsibilities to various departments to ensure smooth and well-coordinated conduct of the programmes. A review meeting was held today chaired by Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) KK Mishra directed officials to work in close coordination and make necessary arrangements.
As part of the events, a ‘Run for Yoga’ will be organised on 19 June at Police Lines, Racecourse. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will lead the run,  but also will also see participation from Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, Ayush and Ayush Education Minister Madan Kaushik, Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli, Ayush Secretary Ranjana Rajguru, Additional Secretary Vijay Kumar Jogdande, District Magistrate Dr Ashish Chauhan and senior officials from various departments. More than 770 participants are expected to join. The run will begin at Police Ground, proceed via Tyagi Road and conclude back at Police Ground, with the objective of spreading awareness about yoga and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The main yoga programme will be held on 21 June from 7 am to 8 am at the multipurpose sports hall in Parade Ground, where mass yoga practice will take place. In addition, yoga sessions under the Common Yoga Protocol will be organised at historic and culturally significant sites including Lakhamandal and Hanol.
ADM Mishra emphasised that the success of Yoga Day depends on public participation and urged citizens to actively join both the ‘Run for Yoga’ and the collective yoga practice. He directed the police, education, sports and other departments to extend full cooperation and ensure proper arrangements. The administration has underlined that International Yoga Day is not only a celebration but also a movement to inspire people towards wellness and harmony.
