Haridwar, 15 Jun: Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Limited, India’s leading pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO), has launched the “Kamayi-Padhayi Yojna”, a unique educational and employment initiative under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. Designed for students who have completed their Class 12 education, the initiative offers an opportunity to pursue a three-year BSc Chemistry degree while simultaneously gaining industry exposure and work experience, helping young individuals build a strong foundation for their future careers.
The programme seeks to address one of the most significant challenges faced by many students across India—the need to choose between higher education and earning a livelihood. Through a Work Integrated Learning Programme (WILP) model, Akums is creating a pathway that allows deserving candidates to continue their academic journey while gaining practical industry experience in a professional environment. The initiative is particularly aimed at empowering students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds by providing them access to quality education, mentorship, skill development, and career opportunities.
Under the programme, selected candidates will pursue academic learning through a reputed university in Uttarakhand while benefiting from structured workplace training, industry exposure, regular workshops, and guidance from experienced professionals. The integrated approach ensures that students not only earn a recognised degree but also develop practical skills and industry readiness, significantly enhancing their employability upon graduation.
Speaking at the launch of the initiative, Sandeep Jain, Managing Director, Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Limited, said, “Education and employment are two of the most powerful catalysts for social transformation. Through Kamayi-Padhayi Yojna, we aim to create opportunities for young individuals to pursue higher education without compromising on their financial aspirations. At Akums, we believe that talent exists in every corner of the country, and it is our responsibility to help nurture that talent by providing the right platform, guidance, and opportunities. This initiative reflects our commitment to inclusive growth and our vision of empowering India’s youth to build meaningful and sustainable careers.”
For the academic year 2026-27, the programme will offer 60 seats to eligible candidates. Students who have passed Class 12 in the academic years 2024-25 or 2025-26 with a minimum of 50% marks in the science stream and are aged 18 years or above can apply for admission. The selection process will include screening, interviews, written assessments, and final evaluation to identify deserving candidates.
With initiatives like Kamayi-Padhayi Yojna, Akums reinforces its belief that meaningful progress is built when education and opportunity move together. The programme is not just an intervention for today, but an investment in tomorrow’s workforce—one that is skilled, confident, and socially aware. By enabling youth to learn while they earn, Akums aims to contribute to a more inclusive and future-ready India where financial constraints do not limit potential.
As India continues to evolve as a global knowledge and manufacturing hub, such models of integrated learning reflect the role industry can play in shaping equitable growth. Akums remains committed to strengthening this bridge between academia and industry, and to supporting initiatives that create long-term value for society, communities, and the nation at large.
