Dehradun, 15 Jun: Age was just a number and food was the common language, as 80 plus Experimenters gathered together for a community pot luck dinner at Mann Estate on Sunday evening. When the idea was first floated by CC Sumeet Nanda, it was hoped for a gathering of about 40 to 50 people. But the response was overwhelming and soon exploded to 80 plus.

A potluck for such a large gathering can be a recipe for chaos, hence logistics become very important. The Executive Committee took on this responsibility. It was decided to keep the menu simple and each couple was requested to bring one dish sufficient for eight people. To ensure even distribution of dishes, Maninder Juneja allocated the responsibilities on an excel sheet. CC Sumeet Nanda was magnanimous to centrally organise a tandoor for hot rotis, salad, dry snacks and, of course, Chat.

The soaring temperatures could not dampen the enthusiasm in the members, as they gathered together elegantly dressed and in high spirits.  Mann Estate was well lit and spruced up for the occasion, thanks to Dr DS Mann, who was magnanimous to offer his premises. It all started with bonhomie and exchange of pleasantries. While the men folk were engrossed in fellowship the ladies fruitfully utilised the time in tambola, conducted by Rajive Nangia and Sunita Rekhi. The members thoroughly enjoyed the music and the ambience.

There was a plethora of homemade dishes and members had a herculean task in trying to taste every dish, each more exotic than the other.
