Mussoorie, 19 Jun: The Mussoorie police have taken strict action against a driver who was flaunting ‘VIP culture’ and blatantly flouting traffic rules here, today. During a special checking drive in the Gajji Bend area, the police seized a Delhi-registered car on the spot for having illegal tinted film, a hooter, and red-blue beacon lights. The driver also did not possess a valid driving licence.

Mussoorie Station House Officer (SHO) Devendra Chauhan stated that an intensive traffic enforcement drive is being conducted by the Mussoorie police under the directives of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dehradun, and the supervision of the Circle Officer (CO), Mussoorie. As part of this drive, the police stopped and inspected a vehicle (DL4CAZ 6536) in the Gajji Bend area. When documents were requested from the driver, Dhruv Kumar (20), a resident of Rohini, New Delhi, he failed to produce a valid driving licence. A search of the vehicle revealed clear violations of the Motor Vehicles Act; the car windows had illegal tinted film, and the vehicle was equipped with a hooter and red-blue beacon lights—items prohibited for ordinary citizens. He noted that many individuals use such equipment to create a false impression of being a VIP on the road, which disrupts traffic flow and causes confusion among the general public. Taking the violations seriously, the police issued a challan against the driver under various sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and seized the vehicle on the spot. The Mussoorie police have emphasised that road safety is the top priority in hill regions. Driving without a licence, making illegal vehicle modifications, applying tinted film, or using prohibited hooters and red-blue beacons are criminal offences. Strict action against such violations will continue in the future.
The police have appealed to the general public and tourists to carry all necessary documents while driving, adhere to traffic rules, and refrain from using any kind of illegal equipment. The police state that the drive against those who compromise road safety will continue.
