Haridwar, 9 Jul: To advance the integration of India’s traditional knowledge systems with modern medical science, Patanjali Research Foundation (PRF), the University of Patanjali, and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh, have formalised their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The agreement has been established to foster collaboration across clinical studies, scientific research, academic partnerships, the exchange of researchers and subject-matter experts, and innovation in the field of health sciences. Through this strategic partnership, the institutions will leverage the complementary strengths of Ayurveda and modern medicine to develop evidence-based healthcare solutions that benefit patients and society.
Acharya Balkrishna, Head of Patanjali Research Foundation, stated today that the collaboration would not only elevate the partnership among the participating institutions but also strengthen an integrated healthcare model in India, where traditional Indian medical wisdom and modern scientific methodologies work synergistically.
He further emphasised that Patanjali firmly believes that collaborative clinical research supported by rigorous scientific evidence will pave the way for more effective, reliable, and evidence-based healthcare solutions for mankind.
Prof Meenu Singh, Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS Rishikesh, remarked that scientific dialogue and collaboration between modern medicine and traditional knowledge are the need of the hour. She highlighted that the MoU would open new avenues for clinical research, innovation, and academic excellence.
She further expressed confidence that the joint research initiatives undertaken through this collaboration would generate robust scientific evidence, contributing significantly to improved patient care and enhancing the overall quality of healthcare services.
On this occasion, Prof Mayank Kumar Agrawal, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, University of Patanjali, Prof Shailendra Handu, Dean (Research), AIIMS Rishikesh, and Dr Anurag Varshney, Chief Scientist at Patanjali Research Foundation were present. Dr Anurag said that the agreement extends far beyond collaborative research. It will significantly strengthen the scientific capabilities of both institutions by promoting clinical studies and data-driven research, and by creating a dynamic platform for the intellectual and scientific development of young researchers.
This collaboration among the three institutions signifies a new chapter in integrated health research in India. It aims to accelerate scientific breakthroughs and support the creation of evidence-based healthcare solutions that will benefit millions both in India and globally. By establishing a robust link between Ayurveda, modern medicine, education, and research, this partnership is set to enhance India’s stature as a leader in global health innovation.
