Haridwar, 21 Jul: The state government has outlined four major projects under the Haridwar Ganga Corridor aimed at strengthening civic and pilgrimage infrastructure ahead of Mahakumbh 2027 and the annual Kanwar Yatra. The redevelopment of Har Ki Pauri–Subhash Ghat will involve comprehensive development of the Subhash Ghat area to provide safe, organised and improved facilities for devotees and tourists. With the rising influx of pilgrims, the Dhanush Ghat section will be expanded to ensure adequate space for holy bathing and religious activities. The project will also include construction of Dhanush Bridge, Aastha Path and Boardwalk Bridge, alongside reinforced crowd management and emergency evacuation systems. Pedestrian pathways along the Ganga ghat will be redeveloped and beautified to make movement safer and more convenient.
In the northern zone of Har Ki Pauri, a separate infrastructure development project will focus on modern and organised facilities. Considering the growing number of pilgrims during Mahakumbh, Kanwar Yatra and throughout the year, parking, crowd management and public amenities will be strengthened. Public spaces are to developed and modern facilities expanded to ensure smooth movement and effective management during large religious gatherings.
The Rodi Belwala redevelopment project would reportedly create a safe, clean and modern environment for pilgrims and visitors. The plan aims to upgrade civic amenities and build infrastructure suited to religious and tourism activities. It will include improved drainage, modern lighting, civil works, surveillance systems, pedestrian facilities and expansion of essential public services.
The Administrative Route Corridor Development Project will widen, beautify and modernise the key administrative road in Haridwar. The objective is to ensure safe, smooth and organised traffic management along this major route. The upgraded road will improve traffic flow, make movement easier for pilgrims and residents, and strengthen traffic arrangements during Mahakumbh, kanwar yatra and other large events.
Together, these projects form a crucial part of the government’s vision to transform Haridwar into a modern, secure and world‑class spiritual city while ensuring that the arrangements for Mahakumbh 2027 are comprehensive, safe and well‑organised.
