Dehradun, 28 Jul: Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has assured Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami that the State Government’s proposals, including the extension of the Dehradun-Kota Nanda Devi Express to Mumbai, are under active consideration.

According to the State Government, the Ministry of Railways has responded positively to various proposals submitted by the Uttarakhand Government for expanding rail services connecting Dehradun with major cities across the country and for improving passenger convenience.

In a letter addressed to CM Dhami, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the proposals forwarded by the State Government, including the extension of the Dehradun-Kota Nanda Devi Express to Mumbai and other important suggestions relating to railway services, are being examined seriously. He assured that the proposals would undergo a detailed technical and operational assessment before an appropriate decision is taken.

The Railways Minister stated that suitable action would be initiated after a comprehensive evaluation of the proposals submitted by the Chief Minister, paving the way for further strengthening rail connectivity in Uttarakhand.

Commenting on the development, CM Dhami observed Uttarakhand is one of the country’s leading pilgrimage and tourism destinations, attracting lakhs of pilgrims and tourists every year. He pointed out that a large number of people from the State also reside in different metropolitan cities, particularly Mumbai and other parts of western India. In such a scenario, the expansion of rail services would greatly benefit residents of the state, the pilgrims, tourists and other travellers and improve connectivity with key destinations across the country.

Dhami has expressed gratitude to Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for the positive response and voiced confidence that the proposals submitted by the State Government would receive early approval. He said the expansion of railway services would provide a significant boost to Uttarakhand’s transport infrastructure, strengthen rail connectivity and contribute to the State’s economic growth, tourism sector and overall social development.
