Mussoorie, 28 Jul: Amidst ongoing discussions on social media regarding ethanol-blended petrol (E-20), the Mussoorie Taxi Car Association has clarified its stance. The association stated that it is neither running any campaign against the E-20 programme nor has it demanded that the government withdraw it. The organisation has appealed for an immediate halt to the circulation of misleading information on social media.
Virendra Panwar, President of the Mussoorie Taxi Car Association, stated that some individuals are propagating claims on social media that the association is campaigning for the withdrawal of the Government of India’s E-20 ethanol-blended petrol programme; however, these claims are entirely misleading and baseless. He noted that the association has never passed any resolution regarding this matter, nor has it demanded a rollback at any level. Panwar emphasised that the E-20 programme is a significant national initiative aimed at boosting farmers’ income, reducing dependence on crude oil imports, and strengthening the goal of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India)—an initiative the organisation supports. He added that data available from the government and the automobile industry shows no evidence of widespread engine damage caused by E-20 fuel. He further remarked that the ethanol blending programme has also promoted environmental conservation; it is reducing reliance on fossil fuels and enabling farmers to secure better economic returns for their crops. Consequently, it is inappropriate to make this national programme controversial based on incorrect facts. The association has appealed to those spreading misinformation on social media to stop misusing the organisation’s name and to delete misleading posts. The President affirmed that the Mussoorie Taxi Car Association has always stood in support of national interests and the government’s public welfare schemes, and will continue to offer constructive cooperation in the future.
