CM pays tribute to Shaheed Udham Singh

GADARPUR (US NAGAR), 31 Jul: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today paid homage to Shaheed Udham Singh at Kamboj Dharamshala in Gadarpur on the occasion of his martyrdom day. The CM offered floral tributes at the statue, participated in the Akhand Path, bowed his head at the Gurudwara and prayed for the prosperity of the state.
Saluting Guru Sahib and Shaheed Udham Singh, the Chief Minister described the gathering as a unique confluence of valour and sanctity. He said that whenever the sacrifice, courage and patriotism of Udham Singh are remembered, every Indian feels immense pride.
Dhami also recalled the Jallianwala Bagh massacre as one of the darkest chapters of Indian history and said Udham Singh avenged that injustice, presenting before the world India’s dignity, courage and indomitable resolve.
He added that the martyr’s life continues to inspire courage, self respect, patriotism and sacrifice, instilling devotion to the nation in every heart. He underlined that the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib guide humanity with compassion, truth, brotherhood and selfless service, values that inspire the entire nation.
The CM also stated that the Sikh community has contributed significantly towards the development of Uttarakhand. He appealed to all the citizens to keep the ideals of Shaheed Udham Singh alive in their hearts and to follow his path in contributing to nation building. He said that the inspiration of patriotism, service, sacrifice and humanity flows from the sacred words of Guru Granth Sahib and that these teachings continue to illuminate the path of society.
Among those present on the occasion were Cabinet Minister Pradeep Batra, MLAs Arvind Pandey, Shiv Arora and Trilok Singh Cheema, BJP district president Kamal Jindal, Manoj Pal, Mayor Vikas Sharma, Deepak Bali, Minister of State Anil Kapoor Dabbu and several other dignitaries.
