Dehradun, 3 Aug: A counselling and guidance workshop was organised by the Rotary Club Dehradun at the District Jail, Dehradun. Workshop coordinator Rotarian Dr Tarun Bhatia said that the programme was conducted in two phases—one for women and the other for young inmates.

The Chief Guest was Rotary Club District Governor Dr Rita Kalra from Chandigarh, who found the event very purposeful. During the workshop, titled ‘Naya Savera’, she encouraged the women inmates and inspired them to enhance their skills and move forward in life.

Rotary Club Dehradun President Megha Bansal presented gifts to the women inmates, young inmates, and staff, and motivated them to move forward with renewed determination. District Jailer Pawan Kothari said that, along with the visit, the objective of the workshop was to eliminate misconceptions in society about prisons and to present the jail as a rehabilitation centre, while exploring how better coordination could improve the economic, social, and judicial support available to inmates.

On this occasion, Rotary Cluster Head Dr Jagruti Navani, Secretary Praveen Gupta, Dr AK Srivastava, DC Bansal, Dr Sanjay Kalra, Dr Upasak Anamika, Rekha, Sheetal, Om Prakash, Saroj, and several other Rotarians were present.

On behalf of the prison administration, the District Governor and the President were honoured with mementos.
