Dehradun, 3 Aug: The Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority, Nainital, has directed that a National Lok Adalat will be organised in Dehradun district on 12 September 2026. This was shared by Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Dehradun, Seema Dungrakoti. She has appealed to the citizens and litigants to avail maximum benefit of the Lok Adalat.

Dungrakoti stated that the cases amenable to settlement such as compoundable criminal matters, Section 138 NI Act cases, motor accident compensation claims, bank loan and recovery disputes, matrimonial issues, labour and civil cases, electricity and water‑related disputes and other compromise‑based matters will be resolved swiftly on the basis of mutual agreement. Interested parties may submit applications in the concerned court either personally or through their advocates by 11 September 2026.

According to the District Legal Services Authority, disposal of cases through the National Lok Adalat takes place in a simple, speedy and amicable atmosphere, saving both time and money for litigants. In eligible cases, refund of court fees may also be granted. The decision of the Lok Adalat is final and binding on both parties.

Seema Dungrakoti emphasised that the National Lok Adalat is not merely a forum for disposal of cases but also an effective platform for dialogue, compromise and promotion of social harmony. She urged the residents of the district to present matters that can be resolved through mutual consent in the Lok Adalat to secure early justice and derive maximum benefit from this alternative dispute resolution mechanism.
