Dehradun, 17 Sep: Territorial Army’s 127 TA Garhwal Rifles, ‘Garhwal Greeners’, organised a cultural programme and global campaign for soldiers and their families at Garhi Cantonment on the occasion of folk artist Pritam Bhartwan’s birthday.
Bhartwan and his team formally launched their new global initiative, ‘Culture for Humanity’. The initiative will serve as a platform for his lectures, dhol performances, jaagar, pawada and folk-art sessions at universities and academies in India and abroad. It seeks to promote human values and social harmony amid rapid technological advancement.
Bhartwan was also associated with the Territorial Army’s ‘Participation and Responsibility’ campaign for environmental conservation. During the event, he urged the people to help protect the Himalayan ecosystem. His team presented traditional jagar, pawada, folk songs and dances, connecting soldiers and their families with Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage.
