Dehradun, 18 Sep: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today alleged that the Congress leaders are engaged in a race to spread lies and confusion on every issue under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. It said the Congress leaders’ frustration is an indication that the BJP is headed for a hat-trick in Uttarakhand.
BJP state president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt also alleged that the Congress-ruled governments are conspiring to obstruct development in Uttarakhand, while their chief ministers meet the industrialists secretly to attract investment in their respective states.
Responding to questions from the media, Bhatt said the Congress has lost all credibility in Uttarakhand as well as in the country. He said that whenever the party has got an opportunity to govern, its leaders ‘plundered’ the state. As a result, he claimed, the people have kept the Congress out of power for the past 10 years in Uttarakhand.
He said the Congress is now “frustrated and without any issue” and is now resorting to spreading lies and political conspiracies. Responding to the allegations made by Congress leaders, Bhatt said those accusing the BJP government of obstructing industrial development and taking administrative action had themselves opposed the creation of Uttarakhand and had worked to deprive the state of its special industrial package.
Bhatt alleged that the CMs of Congress-ruled Telangana and Karnataka meet the industrialists such as Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani secretly to bring investment to their states, while the Congress spreads misinformation about investment coming to other states in an attempt to obstruct development.
He further alleged that Congress governments in several states has been voted out over accusations of links with examination and recruitment mafias. He said the paper leak and cheating racket had flourished in Uttarakhand during Congress rule. However, the BJP government has enacted a stringent anti-copying law and has sent the mafias behind bars, he claimed.
Bhatt alleged that Congress leaders are now spreading new rumours every day in an attempt to damage the future of the youth. He said more than 37,000 government appointments have been made without payment or recommendations, adding that the Opposition is worried because an issue that had continued for generations has been brought to an end.
The BJP leader also accused the Congress of damaging the image of Uttarakhand’s revered pilgrimage sites by spreading lies about them. After failing to gain public support, he said, Congress leaders have again attempted to spread misinformation from Haldwani. The public has caught them ‘red-handed’ in that attempt as well, he claimed.
Taking a jibe at the internal political disputes within the Congress, Bhatt said the associates of a former CM had allegedly been caught in a dacoity case, following which the leader began theatrically offering to resign in order to remain in the news. He questioned the relevance of offering or accepting a resignation when the leader concerned is currently only a Congress Working Committee member, saying that a resignation did not require anyone’s approval.
Bhatt alleged that the move is aimed at putting pressure on party leaders so that the leader could withdraw the “final instalment” for his sons and daughters from the Congress’s “dynastic ATM”.
Bhatt said that if Rawat had genuinely been under pressure from the ED or any other agency, he would not have left the BJP later. The BJP leader alleged that what Rawat described as fear was actually anxiety over the possible consequences of his alleged acts of political corruption, which he repeatedly referred to in an attempt to gain public sympathy.
