Dehradun, 22 Apr: Out of the well-known Char Dhams of Uttarakhand, the portals of Shri Gangotri and Yamunotri, two Dhams located in Uttarkashi, have been opened on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. The state government is always ready to make the journey simple, easy, convenient and safe for the passengers.
State Tourism, Religion and Culture Minister, Satpal Maharaj said this in a statement released on Saturday. He said that the government has completed all its preparations for Chardham as well as Hemkund Yatra. For the security and assistance of the pilgrims coming for the Chardham Yatra, male and female “Tourism Helpers and Safety Mitras” are being deployed through outsourced means.
Welcoming the pilgrims coming on the Char Dham Yatra, Satpal Maharaj has urged the yatris to get themselves registered to take advantage of the elaborate facilities.
The Tourism Minister said that Maa Ganga’s festive doli departed from its winter stay Mukhwa (Mukhimath) on Friday, with the cheers of thousands of devotees and after spending the night at Bhairo Ghati reached Gangotri Dham after leaving Bhairo Temple. In Gangotri, at 12.35 auspicious time, the doors of Gangotri Dham were opened for the devotees. Worship by the pilgrimage priests and chanting of Vedic mantras made the occasion special. On the other hand, the festival doli of Maa Yamuna ji, led by her brother Shanidev from Kharsali in the morning from its winter stay, Kalindi left for Yamunotri Dham, situated at the foot of the mountain. In Yamunotri, with the chanting of Vedic mantras and rituals, the doors of the Dham were opened for the devotees for darshan by the pilgrimage priests at 12:41.
The Tourism Minister said that the doors of Kedarnath Dham will be opened on April 25 and Badrinath Dham on April 27. Along with the opening of the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines, the Char Dham Yatra has also started from today. The government has completed all its preparations for Chardham and Hemkund Yatra as well. For the security and assistance of the pilgrims coming for the Chardham Yatra, male and female “Tourism Helpers and Safety Mitras” are being deployed through outsourced means.
He said that under the registration of Chardham and Hemkund Yatris, which started from February 18, 2023, 16,89,496 yatris have so far registered themselves. If we talk about the registration of pilgrims in various Dhams, so far 6,00,434 for Kedarnath, 5,07,759 for Badrinath.
For Yamunotri, 2,62,621 for Hemkund 11,614 passengers have got themselves registered.
Maharaj told that under the booking of GMVN Guest Houses which started from February 16, 2023, a total of 10,15,59,209 crore has been booked so far.
He has requested all the devotees coming for Char Dham Yatra to get themselves registered to avail the wide facilities of Char Dham Yatra. Devotees can also register for the Chardham Yatra through the online website of the Tourism Department registrationandtouristcare.uk.
