CM offers worship at Gangotri Dham on first day of the Yatra

Gangotri, 22 Apr: On the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya today, the portals of GangotriYamunotri have been opened for devotees to visit for the new Char Dham Yatra season. The portals of Gangotri opened at 12:35 p.m while the portals of Yamunotri opened at 12:41 p.m. The first puja at Gangotri was offered in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also reached the Dham on this occasion and offered worship at the Gangotri shrine. After the worship and due rituals, the portals of Gangotri Dham were formally opened in the presence of the CM. After this the portals of Yamunotri Dham opened. CM Dhami welcomed the pilgrims with flower showers.
The process of opening the portals of Gangotri shrine had started yesterday itself. The divine Doli of Mother Ganga left from Mukhba  for Gangotri Dham yesterday as the army band played the usual music on this occasion. As per the schedule, the portals of Gangotri Dham have been opened at 12.35 pm in the afternoon while the portals of Yamunotri Dham opened at 12.41 pm in the afternoon for the darshan of the devotees. The portals of both the temples will remain open for about six months for the devotees to have darshan and offer prayers. Today, the first puja was performed in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also offered prayers at Kharsali, Yamunotri. After that, the festive Doli of Maa Yamuna was sent from Kharsali to Yamunotri Dham under the monitoring of Lord Shani Dev (Saturn). Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that with the opening of the portals of Maa Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham today, the Chardham Yatra of Uttarakhand has formally begun. The portals of Kedarnath will open on 25 April and Badrinath on 27 April. Devotees coming on Chardham Yatra were welcomed on their arrival at Dev Bhoomi. Flowers have been showered on the devotees through helicopter.
Chief Minister Dhami said that the Char Dham Yatra will be celebrated with enthusiasm. He welcomed the devotees coming from the country and abroad to Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also wished for the happiness and prosperity of the country and the state.
Dhami took the blessings of Mother Ganga by offering prayers at Gangotri Dham. The Chief Minister welcomed all the devotees coming on Chardham Yatra. He said that all the devotees who come from the country and abroad for the Chardham Yatra will get darshan. All preparations have been done in view of the Char Dham Yatra. The state government is determined to ensure safe and smooth travel for the Char Dham pilgrims. Every possible facility will be made available to the devotees in the state. He said that all arrangements for the yatra are being regularly monitored.
Harish Semwal, chairman of the Gangotri temple committee, told that the festive Doli of Mother Ganga left Mukhba Village, its winter abode for Gangotri at 12:15 pm on Friday. After taking night rest at Bhairav Temple located in Bhairav Valley, the doli reached Gangotri at 8 am today.  Ganga Poojan, Ganga Sahastranam recitation and special poojas were performed along with rituals before the portals were opened for the new season at 12:35 pm which was the hour of Sarvath Amrit Siddha Yoga.
At the same time, Suresh Uniyal, secretary of the Yamunotri temple committee, told that this morning at 8 a.m, on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, the festive doli of Maa Yamuna left for Yamunotri Dham under the monitoring of Lord Shanidev from Kharsali village. The Doli reached Yamunotri Dham at 11 a.m, where after offering prayers and performing Havan, the portals of Yamunotri Dham have been opened for devotees to visit at 12:41 in Abhijeet Muhurta with Vedic chanting.
On this occasion, MLA Suresh Chauhan, District Magistrate Abhishek Ruhela, SP Aparna Yaduvanshi, District President BJP Satendra Singh Rana, President Cooperative Bank Vikram Singh, officials of the temple committee, devotees and officials were present.
