Dr HR Nagendra, former advisor to PM Modi, to deliver lecture at SRHU

DEHRADUN, 19 June: Padma Shri awardee Dr HR Nagendra, former advisor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will visit Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) on 20 June. A special lecture by Dr Nagendra is being organised as part of the various programmes scheduled for International Yoga Day. He will address students, faculty, and staff.

Dr Rajendra Dobhal, Vice-Chancellor of Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU), has stated that various programmes will be held at the university on 21 June in celebration of International Yoga Day. As part of this series of events, Padma Shri awardee Dr Nagendra, former advisor to Prime Minister Modi, will arrive at the university on 20 June. He will present a lecture on “Integrated Medicine” at the Adi-Kailash Auditorium at 2:30 p.m., with participation from students, research scholars, faculty, and physicians.

Dr HR Nagendra is a mechanical engineer, yoga therapist, academician, author, and the Chancellor of Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana in Bengaluru. He has also served as a personal advisor and yoga instructor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has awarded him the title “Yoga Shri”. He has authored 35 books and over 100 research papers on yoga. In 2016, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for his contributions to society. Nagendra has also served as the convener of the UGC Chairman Selection Committee.

Dr Ajay Dubey, Principal of the Himalayan School of Yoga Sciences (HSYS), stated that extensive preparations have been made to ensure the success of the International Yoga Day programmes. Various committees have been formed at the college level. The college will organise programmes for Yoga Day at the university campus, as well as at Sky Garden on Ring Road, Dehradun, Hotel Hyatt, IPCA Lab, and Eureka Forbes and U-Flex in Lal Tappad.
