Meeting chaired by Minister Satpal Maharaj approves funds for Haridwar District Plan

Haridwar, 19 June: A meeting of the District Planning Committee was held in the CCR auditorium under the chairmanship of District In-charge Minister Satpal Maharaj, here, today. The committee approved the total proposed outlay of Rs 67.35 crore for the district for the financial year 2024-25 under the district plan.

The Minister directed that there should be no compromise with the quality in construction works, and immediate action needed to be taken on receiving complaints of poor quality. The Minister directed that the quality of road construction work be investigated on the complaint of the MLA.

He asked the engineers of the Water Institute and Tubewell Department to install hand pumps and tube wells only after scientific assessment of the rapidly falling groundwater level. The depth of hand pumps and tube wells should be determined keeping in mind the falling groundwater level so that no tap can dry up. He directed that the tube well section should keep extra motors with them so that, if the motor gets damaged, it can be replaced immediately.

He said that water conservation and promotion should be the priority of all. The latest water saving technologies should be incorporated in agriculture, so that water is used as little as possible. Farmers and public representatives should be introduced to hydroponic technology and made aware of its benefits.

On the complaint of the MLAs, the Minister asserted that, if the engineers of the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department do not listen to the public representatives and act arbitrarily, due to which the farmers and the public have to face problems, a written complaint would be made to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath.

The Minister directed the officers of the Industry Department to call public representatives to employment-oriented training workshops and camps.

MPs, MLAs and committee members gave detailed information about various problems on the occasion. The officers were asked to take necessary action.

District Magistrate Dhiraj Singh Garbyal and Chief Development Officer Prateek Jain informed the minister that under the annual district plan, the outlay of Haridwar district has been fixed by the government at Rs 67.35 crore for the year 2024-25. The government has increased the outlay for Haridwar district by 8 percent as compared to last year. About 20 percent of the total outlay amounting to more than Rs 14.06 crore has been provisioned for the line departments related to agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, co-operatives, milk, silk, fisheries, forestry, sugarcane, etc., for promoting self-employment and self-reliance. The remaining approximately 50 percent amount has been provisioned for new works, renovation/improvement and maintenance works of departments like Panchayati Raj, Public Works, Irrigation, Drinking Water, Education, Health, Sports, Youth Welfare, Tourism, etc.

Rajya Sabha MP Kalpana Saini, District Panchayat Chairperson Kiran Chaudhary, MLAs Adesh Chauhan, Mamta Rakesh, Anupama Rawat, Ravi Bahadur Singh, Furkan Ahmed, Md Shahzad, BJP District President Sandeep Goyal, Shobharam Prajapati, District Magistrate Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, CDO Prateek Jain, District Development Officer Ved Prakash, CMO Dr Manish Dutt, Chief Education Officer KK Gupta, DSTO N Dhyani along with committee members and officers, etc., were present at the meeting.
