Dehradun, 10 Sep: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today laid the foundation stone and performed Bhoomi Pujan of the new building of the Bar Association Dehradun in the judicial complex (old jail) in Dehradun. On this occasion, he congratulated all the advocates on the foundation stone laying of the new chamber building and stated that it is a historic day.

The Chief Minister claimed that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the work of strengthening the judicial infrastructure is being done continuously in the entire country including Uttarakhand. He shared that, in the past ten years, the Modi government has spent more than Rs 8,000 crores to augment judicial infrastructure. He claimed that the Union Government has implemented new laws according to today’s requirements by dumping the archaic laws of the British era. After the implementation of these laws, the concept of justice will get even stronger, he asserted.

Dhami reminded that, under the new laws, electronic and digital records have also been recognised as strong evidence and asserted that this is important in the time of digital revolution. This will help all the advocates to easily present their side in court. The CM also claimed that the state government is committed to strengthening all the judicial infrastructure in the state. He said that the demand for the chamber building of Dehradun Bar Association was being made for a long time. In this regard, the officials of All India Advocates’ Council met with the Bar Association and demanded land for the new building. The CM said that a total of more than five and a half thousand people work in the Dehradun legal fraternity. Therefore, understanding the problems of all, the government had decided to give five bighas of land to the Bar Association, Dehradun. The CM also observed that he is happy that a nine-storey building with 1,500 chambers, an auditorium, library, canteen, parking will be constructed on this land. He said that every possible support will be given for the construction of this building. He added that, apart from the anti-copying law, the state government has implemented relevant and strong laws like anti- mass conversion law, anti-riots law, etc. With their implementation, today Uttarakhand is identified across the country as a disciplined state with zero tolerance towards crime. He said that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be implemented in the state before 9 November 2024.
