CM orders constitution of Committee for Road Accident Safety Manual

Dehradun, 15 Nov: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with senior officials of the government at his Official Residence here today. At the meeting, he directed that necessary measures be taken for operation of fixed-wing aircraft from Dehradun to Gauchar and Chinyalisaur. He instructed that tenders and all other formalities should be completed soon for its early operation. Taking serious note of recent road accidents which resulted in loss of many lives in the state, the Chief Minister also directed the constitution of a committee of experts and experienced individuals to draft a road accident safety manual for the effective prevention of road accidents. He emphasised that the increase in road accidents is a matter of concern and that special attention should be paid to safety measures for their effective prevention.

In this regard, Dhami also issued strict instructions that liquor shops and bars should be open only until the stipulated time limit and directed the officers to continuously monitor this and ensure strict adherence to time limits. The CM said that during night patrolling, checks should be conducted with alcometers, and action should be taken against speeding. Arrangements should be ensured, keeping in mind all aspects related to public safety.

Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, Additional Director General of Police AP Ashumann, and Vice President, MDDA, Banshidhar Tiwari were among those present at the meeting.
