Dehradun, 15 Nov: The Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) has decided to postpone the Uttarakhand Civil Services Main Examination 2024. The PCS Main Examination, originally scheduled to take place from 16 to 19 November, has been postponed until further notice. The decision comes in the wake of the orders of the Uttarakhand High Court.
It may be recalled that the Uttarakhand High Court ordered the postponement of the Uttarakhand Combined State Civil Senior Service Examination 2024.
A bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari and Justice Vivek Bharti Sharma of the Uttarakhand High Court issued the order while hearing a petition filed by candidate Himanshu Tomar. The UKPSC had initially planned to conduct the PCS examination between 16 and 19 November and had even completed its preparations. However, the commission made changes to the syllabus for three Hindi question papers earlier this month, which allegedly caused confusion among candidates. In response, a memorandum was submitted to the Personnel Department on behalf of the candidates, requesting a postponement of the exam.
Himanshu Tomar, a candidate who passed the preliminary examination, had filed a petition in the High Court raising objections. As a result, the Nainital High Court issued the order just two days before the PCS examination was set to begin. The Public Service Commission stated that, in compliance with the High Court’s order, the PCS examination has been postponed. The Uttarakhand Combined State Civil Senior Subordinate Service Main Examination 2024 will be rescheduled at a later date, and the updated exam date will be announced on the Commission’s website soon.
