Dehradun, 15 Nov: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd), offered prayers today at the Gurudwara located at Race Course, here, on the occasion of the 555th Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Devi. He prayed for the prosperity and well-being of the people of the state.
On this occasion, the Governor extended his greetings on the Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev and stated that the fundamental mantra of ‘Ik Onkar Satnam’ contained in the Guru’s teachings is a profound source of inspiration. Guru Nanak Dev teachings advocate compassion, justice, and equality, and provide guidance to all of humanity.
The Governor emphasised that Guru Nanak Dev’s teachings continue to show the path of unity and harmony in society. Following his ideals helps in understanding the essential elements of life and attaining inner peace. He urged everyone to adopt four key qualities of Guru Nanak Dev’s personality—simplicity, compassion, innocence, and humility—in their own lives.
The Governor further mentioned that Guru Nanak Dev’s messages of ‘Sab Kuch Tera’ (Everything is Yours) and ‘Ekam’ (Oneness) are still relevant to the world today. On this occasion, the First Lady, Gurmeet Kaur, was also present.
