Dehradun, 20 Nov: The Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) has claimed that several steps taken to address the Delhi Government’s ban on the entry of around 200 UTC buses into Delhi are yielding positive results. It has further claimed that many effective measures have been implemented, easing the problems faced by passengers traveling to and from Delhi to Uttarakhand. Upon the implementation of the GRAP 4 (Graded Response Action Plan) policy in the national capital Delhi, effective steps have been taken by the UTC in response to the ban on the entry of BS-3 (Euro 3) and BS-4(Euro 4) buses into New Delhi.
According to the UTC, the steps taken to ease the problem faced by the passengers on the Delhi route include operating 180 BS-6 (Euro-6) CNG buses, available with the Corporation on the Delhi route. In addition, the UTC currently has 180 BS-6 CNG buses available, which are being operated on the Delhi route. Also, 12 Volvo buses, which are BS-6 models, are also being operated on the Delhi route with increased trips and rescheduled timings to ensure passengers do not face any difficulties. The corporation has recently purchased 130 new BS-6 buses, out of which 77 are being operated on the Delhi route. The Corporation also claimed that the remaining 53 buses will also be operational soon on the Delhi route. The Corporation has also claimed that the frequency of bus services to Delhi has also been increased.
The UTC administration has further stated that the buses unable to enter Delhi are being transported to Mohan Nagar and Kaushambi (Uttar Pradesh) at the Delhi border as per the passengers’ requirements. It claims that coordination is being ensured with Delhi Road Transport to use DTC buses to transport passengers from the border to Delhi.
All depots of Uttarakhand have been put on alert mode. The UTC is making efforts to ensure that no passenger faces any difficulty in travelling from Uttarakhand to Delhi. It has been claimed that passenger movement is rapidly normalising.
