DEHRADUN, 14 Dec: Doon International School Riverside campus hosted its much-anticipated annual Athletic Meet on December 14 The atmosphere was electrified with anticipation as students demonstrated their athletic skills and sportsmanship.
The day commenced with a ceremonial welcome and hoisting of the school flag, accompanied by the harmonious rendition of the school song. The disciplined March Past and inspiring Torch Relay embodied a sense of unity and pride, culminating in the solemn oath-taking ceremony, affirming the athletes’ dedication to fair competition.
The Sports Meet took off to an official start in the presence of Chief Guest Col Rakesh Singh Sidhu (Retd), featuring an array of riveting events such as the horse show, the 400m race for both junior and senior boys, and the delightful fun races for students from Grades I to III. As the competition heated up, the 200m race for junior and senior categories captured everyone’s attention, setting the stage for the much-awaited prize distribution.
The momentum continued with the 80m race for Grades IV and V, followed by high-energy relay races, including the 4x100m Girls Open, 4x100m Junior Boys, 4x100m Senior Boys, and 4x50m Sub-Junior boys and girls. Adding a unique flair, the teacher’s relay race highlighted the enthusiasm of the staff.
The event reached its pinnacle with the adrenaline-pumping 100m races for both junior and senior categories. The ceremony concluded with a grand prize distribution, celebrating the standout athletes and their remarkable achievements.
The Best Athlete awards were conferred upon Junior Girls: Avni Bhalotia, Junior Boys: Prithvi Raj Mani & Yashvardhan Singh, Senior Girls: Rajnandini, and Senior Boys: Sannidhya Subedi. The March Past Trophy was proudly claimed by Lincoln House, and the prestigious Overall Sports Trophy was also secured by Lincoln House.
The day’s festivities concluded with the ceremonial lowering of the school flag, marking the end of an exhilarating day, and the reverberating strains of the National Anthem instilled a profound sense of pride and unity among all present. Doon International School riverside campus once again exemplified its commitment to fostering excellence in sports and teamwork.
