New Delhi, 19 Dec: The Uttarakhand BJP today strongly condemned what it described as an attack on democracy led by Rahul Gandhi in the Parliament premises. Rajya Sabha MP and State BJP President Mahendra Bhatt stated claimed that those who spread falsehoods about insulting Ambedkar have now resorted to ‘hooliganism in Parliament’. He demanded Rahul Gandhi’s resignation from the post of Leader of the Opposition on moral grounds and a public apology from the Congress over attack on certain parliamentarians inside Parliament House today.
In response to questions from media persons outside Parliament House in New Delhi today, Bhatt claimed that the entire opposition, including Congress, has been trying to spread a false narrative about ending the Constitution and reservation in the country for a long time. However, after their lies and rumours were exposed in Haryana and Maharashtra, the public has rejected them. Bhatt asserted that following Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah’s rebuttal to Congress during the Constitution Day debate in Parliament, the opposition has been left bewildered. Bhatt also accused Congress of insulting Ambedkar by circulating an edited video of Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement in Parliament.
Bhatt asserted that Shah, in his speech, had described how Congress had insulted Baba Saheb during his lifetime and conspired to erase his identity after his death. He noted that Congress consistently rejected Ambedkar’s ideas and never considered awarding him the Bharat Ratna. The Congress also did not bother to build memorials at places associated with his life. Now, they are insulting him again by lying in Parliament in his name.
Bhatt criticised the incident in Parliament led by Rahul Gandhi, describing it as extremely indecent. He claimed that BJP MPs were attacked, resulting in serious injuries to some of them and that the BJP MPs including an ST woman MP from Nagaland was misbehaved with. Bhatt expressed regret that these allegations point directly to the Leader of Opposition.
He demanded Rahul Gandhi’s resignation on moral grounds and a public apology from the entire Congress for insulting Baba Saheb and lowering the dignity of Parliament.
