Dehradun, 20 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed that all procedures for establishing the Yatra Authority be completed by 30 January 2025. These measures aim to enhance the infrastructure and travel arrangements for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra in Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.
Chairing a meeting in this connection here today, CM Dhami also ordered measures to increase the carrying capacity of the Char Dham sites and to improve the travel experience for pilgrims.
Dhami emphasised the importance of early preparations, including traffic management, development of infrastructure facilities, and ensuring that all basic needs such as parking facilities, hotels, drinking water, and toilets are well-organised. Special attention must be paid to developing mythological, spiritual, and historical places around the four Dhams, he insisted.
The CM also shared that a meeting in this regard would be held by 15 January with the Teerth Purohits and other stakeholders to invite suggestions for better travel management. Digital technology would be utilised to strengthen the travel registration system, ensuring a well-organised Char Dham Yatra.
He stated that continuous improvement of travel arrangements at and around the winter abodes of the Char Dham shrines is also a priority. Better arrangements during the winter yatra would ensure well-organised conditions during the Char Dham yatra. He also said that the importance of Panch Badri and Panch Kedar should also be widely publicised, and their development also well planned.
Prof Dheeraj Sharma, Director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Rohtak, made a presentation regarding the major difficulties faced during past Char Dham yatras and proposed measures to solve them, including strengthening traffic management and the registration system.
