Dehradun, 31 Dec: Official sources of the government have claimed that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, is presenting an example of efficient financial management. In the first nine months of this financial year, revenue of Rs 686 crores has been earned from mining, which is more than the total revenue of Rs 646 crores earned during the last financial year.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, continuous meetings are being held throughout the year with the revenue-earning departments under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) and Secretary, Finance, to maintain financial discipline in the state. The officials claim that the positive results of these efforts are now becoming evident. Consequently, the revenue receipt from mining is increasing year after year. In the financial year 2019-20, a total revenue of Rs 397 crores was received from mining, which increased to Rs 646 crores in the financial year 2023-24, marking an increase of about 36.86 percent compared to the previous financial year.
Now, in the current financial year 2024-25, a total revenue of Rs 686 crore has been earned from mining until 29 December. With three months still left in this financial year, it is expected that by the end of the fiscal year, revenue from mining will exceed Rs 1,000 crores, which will be about 50 percent more than the financial year 2023-24.
On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the Finance and Mining Departments, while changing the strategy for revenue increase, have outsourced the work of monitoring to externally aided agencies. Previously, the monitoring of mining operations was conducted by the Mining Department. This change has brought positive results.
The officials have further claimed that the state’s own tax revenue is also increasing year by year. In the financial year 2019-20, the state received a revenue of Rs 11,513 crores from its own taxes, which increased to Rs 19,245 crores in the financial year 2023-24. The total revenue from own taxes is expected to remain around Rs 22,500 crores during the current financial year.
