International FDP on Innovative Practices begins at Graphic Era

Dehradun, 8 Feb: Teachers and experts called for connecting hospitality management with technology at the Graphic Era, here, today.

An International Faculty Development Programme on Innovative Practices and Trends in Hospitality Education and Research started today at Graphic Era Deemed University. This programme will run for one week.

Addressing the inaugural session of the programme, Vice Chancellor, Graphic Era Deemed University, Dr Narpinder Singh told the teachers that there is a need to focus on guest psychology so that people will better understand the needs of the consumers. General Manager (Administration) of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam, Vipra Trivedi was present as the Chief Guest at the programme. She said that it is necessary to promote Uttarakhand tourism so that the increasing migration problems in the state can be avoided.

Senior Professor, Garhwal University, Dr Rashmi Dodhi asked the teachers to work together with the youth. Dr Rashmi said that changes should be brought keeping in mind that the environment is not harmed. Chairman of Indian Association of Tour Operators (Uttarakhand Chapter) Sunil Singh Rana told the teachers that there are still many places in Uttarakhand which are unexplored. People do not know about them. For this, more publicity will have to be done among the students, and they will have to be motivated to come forward and participate.

The programme was organised by Hospitality Management in collaboration with Academic and Administrative Development Centres. Dean, Academics, Dr Santosh S. Sarraf, HOD, Hospitality Management, Prof Amar Prakash Dabral, Dr Ravish Kukreti, Professor Rakesh Dani, Akash Rawat and other teachers were present on the occasion.
