Closing Ceremony of National Games today in Haldwani, Amit Shah to be present

Dehradun, 13 Feb: The closing ceremony of the 38th National Games will be held in Haldwani tomorrow, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the Chief Guest on the occasion. Tomorrow, the baton of the 39th National Games would be handed over by Shah to Meghalaya, which host the next national games. On this occasion, Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma will also be present to receive the baton from Shah.

Several well-known personalities, including members of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and ministers of the Uttarakhand government, will participate in the event. While the 38th National Games will conclude, preparations for the 39th National Games will commence. All events in Meghalaya will be held in February-March 2027.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma expressed his excitement on social media, stating that he is thrilled to attend the closing ceremony of the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand and accept the IOA flag as the host of the next season.

It may be recalled that the 38th National Games were launched in Uttarakhand on 28 January and will conclude tomorrow. Approximately 10,000 players and officials from 38 teams participated in the games. The games were organised in seven cities of Uttarakhand, with Dehradun being the main venue. Other venues included Haridwar, Nainital, Haldwani, Rudrapur, Shivpuri, and New Tehri.

The Services Sports Control Board is currently leading the medal tally with 66 gold medals. Maharashtra holds the second place with 52 gold medals, followed by Haryana with 42 gold medals. Karnataka is in fourth place with 34 gold medals, while Madhya Pradesh has secured a spot in the top five with 28 gold medals. Host state Uttarakhand has achieved its best performance to date, securing the 7th position with 23 gold medals.
