DEHRASUN, 13 Feb: The 2025 National Games in Uttarakhand continued to impress on Day 16, showcasing thrilling performances across various sports. The day was filled with exciting victories in table tennis, hockey, and shooting, keeping fans engaged throughout.
Table Tennis: Jash Modi Shocks Sathiyan Gnanasekaran to Win Men’s Singles Gold, In a captivating men’s singles final, Jash Modi from Maharashtra achieved a remarkable 4-3 victory over seasoned player Sathiyan Gnanasekaran from Tamil Nadu. The match featured dramatic shifts in momentum, with Modi rallying back after an early deficit. The final scores were 7-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-8, 14-12, 6-11, 11-6, marking a memorable gold medal win for Modi. The women’s singles final was equally thrilling, as Tamil Nadu’s Selena Selvakumar faced off against Swastika Ghosh from Maharashtra in a gripping 4-3 match. Selena started strong, but Ghosh fought back, winning three games in a row. Nevertheless, Selena maintained her composure in the final two games, securing the gold with a score of 11-7, 11-2, 6-11, 7-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-9.

Hockey Finals: Karnataka and Haryana Take the Crown, Karnataka triumphed in the men’s hockey final, narrowly defeating Uttar Pradesh 3-2 in a hard-fought contest. Goals from Shamanth CS (8′), Bharath Kurtakoti (18′), and Abharan Sudev B (39′) propelled Karnataka to victory. Despite a valiant effort from Uttar Pradesh, who scored through Faraz Khan (1′) and Shardanand Tiwari (45′), Karnataka held on to claim the championship. In the women’s hockey final, Haryana made a stunning comeback to beat Madhya Pradesh 4-1. After trailing 0-1 at halftime due to Aishwarya Chavan’s early goal, Haryana turned the match around in the second half. Ishika scored twice (45′, 50′), while Mahima Choudhary (37′) and Monika (55′) contributed to the scoreline, securing the gold for Haryana.

Haryana Clinches Gold in Skeet Mixed Team Event, Haryana maintained its winning momentum as Raiza Dhillon and Ishaan Libra triumphed in the skeet mixed team competition. They outperformed Punjab’s Bhavtegh Gill and Ganemot Sekhon in the final, securing the gold medal. Telangana’s Rashmmi Rathore and Munek Battula took home the bronze, capping off an exciting event.
More Medals: West Bengal and Maharashtra Shine in Table Tennis Doubles, In the mixed doubles table tennis event, the West Bengal team of Ayhika Mukherjee and Anirban Ghosh claimed victory after a hard-fought 3-2 match against Maharashtra’s Reeth Tennison and Chinmaya Somaiya. The final scores were 10-12, 6-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-2, highlighting a remarkable comeback by the Bengal pair.

Rhythmic Gymnastics: Parina Madanpotra Secures Gold, In rhythmic gymnastics, Parina Madanpotra delivered an enchanting performance to win gold in the women’s club apparatus event, adding another achievement to her accolades at the National Games 2025.
