SGRR Inter College, Sahaspur, celebrates 70th anniversary

Dehradun, 8 Apr: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the celebration marking the 70th anniversary of Shri Guru Ram Rai Inter College, Sahaspur, on Tuesday. On this occasion, he honoured several senior members of the community and distributed school bags to students.

Extending his best wishes, the Chief Minister acknowledged the school’s remarkable role in promoting education in the region since its establishment shortly after India’s independence. He commended the 35 years of dedicated service by the school’s Principal, Dr Ravindra Kumar Saini, noting that students mentored by him have gone on to achieve success in various fields across the country.

The Chief Minister especially appreciated the school’s efforts in educating girls from underprivileged families, stating that such initiatives are bringing about positive change in society.

Addressing the students, the Chief Minister emphasised the value of time, calling it precious and irreversible. He encouraged them to work hard, pursue their dreams, and bring pride to their school and community.

The Chief Minister highlighted the state government’s implementation of a strict anti-cheating law, which has curbed exam malpractice. As a result, no paper leaks have occurred in the past three years, and over 20,000 youths have secured government jobs through a transparent recruitment process.

He reiterated that both education and moral values are essential in shaping individuals who can contribute meaningfully to the nation and society. He also stressed the importance of character development.

The Chief Minister added that Uttarakhand was the first state to implement the National Education Policy 2020. Currently, 141 PM SHRI schools and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose residential schools are under construction in the state.

He noted that 50 virtual classrooms have been established across 13 districts, and NCERT textbooks have been made mandatory in all schools. Meritorious students are being provided incentives ranging from Rs 600 to Rs 1,200 along with the opportunity to travel across India for educational exposure.

The state government has also launched a special education scheme for children who lost their parents due to disasters, pandemics, or accidents.

The Chief Minister announced that 20 model colleges and 9 new degree colleges are being established in the state. Additionally, women’s hostels, IT labs, and examination halls are under construction. Various schemes have been introduced to promote sports, with Uttarakhand securing the 7th position in the recently held National Games.

In a major incentive, the state government has initiated the provision of government jobs to athletes who win medals at the national level.

Present at the event were MLA Sahdev Singh Pundir, Municipal Chairperson Neeru Devi, Principal Dr Ravindra Kumar Saini, Dr DS Maan, Acharya Ashish Semwal, SDM, Vikasnagar, Vinod, and other dignitaries.

Honoring Social Workers

The Chief Minister presented mementos to social workers who have made significant contributions to school education and community welfare. The CM Chief also honored Dr DS Mann, Chairman, Doon International School with a Shawl and Memento on behalf of4 Shri Guru Ram Rai Education Mission.

The awardees included Sunita Rawat, Anmol Saini, SP Singh, SP Khaali, Sohan Singh, Dr Ashwini Saini, Colonel Qadir, Advocate Neeraj Kumar, Ashok Kumar, and Ms Yashoda.
