Mussoorie, 14 Jul: Prioritising the safety and health of the ‘Friends of the Environment’ (sanitation workers) who keep the city clean and beautiful, the Mussoorie Municipal Council organised a special event on Tuesday to distribute first-aid kits to them. The event was held under the aegis of the Municipal Council, in collaboration with the Mumkin Hai Development Foundation and ONGC OPAL Limited.
Municipal Council President Meera Saklani, the Chief Guest at the event, handed over the medical kits to the sanitation workers. The distributed kits contain essential first-aid supplies—such as bandages, antiseptic lotion, sterilised gauze, ORS, and soap—to ensure immediate treatment for minor injuries or emergencies during work.
Speaking on the occasion, Municipal Council President Meera Saklani remarked that these workers toil day and night in all weather conditions to maintain the city’s cleanliness. She emphasised that ensuring their safety and health is the responsibility of the Municipal Council and assured that similar programmes focused on their welfare and safety would continue to be organised in the future. Speakers at the event noted that the hard work of these sanitation workers is the driving force behind a clean city, and ensuring their dignity, health, and safety is a shared responsibility of society and the administration. All those present appreciated the workers’ contributions and underscored the need for a safe and healthy working environment.
Executive Officer Gaurav Bhasin and Councillor Gauri Thapliyal were also present at the event.
