Dehradun, 17 Jun: District Magistrate Savin Bansal chaired a Janata Darshan at the Collectorate, here, on Monday, addressing 118 complaints, most of which involved land disputes and encroachment. He also directed Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) and Tehsildars to take action on land possession and demarcation cases within a stipulated timeframe. Additionally, he instructed officials to file FIRs against illegal encroachments on government land and begin clearance proceedings.
In a major case, Bina Sharma, a resident of Chander Road, lodged a complaint stating that she owns approximately five bighas of land, with a registered title dating back to 1940. However, Nagar Nigam (Municipal Corporation) demolished her building, labelling it as an encroachment, and fenced off her land. DM Bansal has now directed Nagar Nigam officials to resolve the matter by 18 June and compensate Sharma for the damage incurred.
Among other cases, Pulma Devi from Shastri Nagar, Tapovan, reported a land fraud in Rishikesh, claiming she had legally purchased a plot in 2007, only to find the original landowner reselling it in 2020. Bansal formed a special committee, headed by the Rishikesh SDM, to investigate, directing the Officer In-charge at the Collectorate to forward the report to SIT Land Fraud.
Janak Singh, an elderly resident of Village Sosa, Vikasnagar, complained that despite repaying Rs 1.75 lakh of a Rs 1 lakh loan by March 2025, his bank refused to issue a No Dues Certificate. DM Bansal summoned the AR Cooperative, instructing them to submit a report and issue the certificate within a week.
Further, Asha Jakhmola, a teacher at Doon Modern High School, Tuntowala, claimed she was unfairly dismissed after 22 years of service. Bansal assigned the Additional District Magistrate (Finance & Revenue) and District Education Officer (Secondary) to investigate and submit a report about her complaint.
Additionally, Mahipal Krishali raised concerns about fake permanent residence certificates being circulated in Sadar Tehsil, allegedly affecting nursing recruitment. Bansal directed an inquiry into these fraudulent certificates and directed officials to file FIRs.
Residents of Banjarawala complained that a drain retaining wall collapsed last monsoon, with a new wall built over the debris, leaving obstructions in the drain. The DM directed the Executive Engineer, Irrigation, to take action and submit a report.
Several senior officials present during the hearing, included ADM (Finance & Revenue) KK Mishra, SP (Sadar II) Renu, SDM Kumkum Joshi, CEO Vinod Kumar Dhaundiyal, and representatives from the Social Welfare, Industries, and other related departments.
