New Delhi, 23 Jul: Haridwar MP and former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, asked the Ministry of Rural Development regarding the number of roads sanctioned to Uttarakhand under Phase III of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and how these projects would contribute in access to education, healthcare, and remote market centres.

In a written reply, Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan informed him that under PMGSY-3, Uttarakhand has been sanctioned 212 roads (covering 2,288 km) and 9 bridges. These roads are aimed at strengthening rural road connectivity by linking agricultural markets, senior secondary schools, and health centres through through-routes.

The Minister also stated that PMGSY emphasises the use of local, non-traditional, and environmentally friendly green technologies in road construction, including cold mix technology, use of waste plastic, full depth reclamation (FDR), cell filled concrete, and panelled cement concrete.

These technologies help reduce greenhouse gas and particulate emissions, lower dependence on conventional construction materials, and make the construction process more sustainable and eco-friendly.

Trivendra Singh Rawat expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Rural Development for this significant approval. He stated that the roads sanctioned under PMGSY-3 will not only connect remote areas with the mainstream but also ensure access to education, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities, marking a major step towards inclusive development of Uttarakhand.
