Dehradun, 1 Aug: Jubilant scenes were witnessed at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s state headquarters here this afternoon as the party claimed a resounding victory in the recently concluded panchayat elections across Uttarakhand. Although both the BJP and Congress have declared themselves victorious, it is the BJP that has launched elaborate celebrations, asserting that the electorate has handed the party a historic mandate. The party office was abuzz with enthusiasm as workers danced to drumbeats and distributed sweets, heralding what they described as a significant win that further solidifies the BJP’s position at the grassroots level.
Senior party leader Anil Goyal expressed confidence in the BJP’s continued ascent in public favour, stating that the results of the panchayat polls reflected immense support for the party. He highlighted that the majority of the winning candidates in both the District Panchayat and Kshetra Panchayat are backed by the BJP, reinforcing its organisational strength across the state. Goyal dismissed the Congress’s claims of success, declaring that the opposition party remains unable to come to terms with the BJP’s triumph and attributing its dwindling relevance to past misdeeds.
With the election results declared, attention is now shifting to the next phase involving the formation of administrative boards in block and district panchayats. Elections for block chiefs and district panchayat presidents are scheduled across all districts, and the BJP has already formulated its strategy to secure leadership in these bodies. The party is aiming to position BJP leaders in the posts of district presidents both at the district and state level, ensuring a strong organisational presence throughout the region.
Rajpur Road MLA Khajandas and another senior BJP leader affirmed that the party is actively engaging with winning independent candidates in a bid to secure their support and consolidate its numerical strength. He underscored the BJP’s intent to ensure complete dominance in the upcoming phase of board formations, signalling a continued effort to deepen the party’s roots in rural governance and administrative structures across Uttarakhand.
