Dehradun, 1 Aug: Claiming a big win for Congress-backed candidates in the recently concluded panchayat elections across Uttarakhand, State Congress President Karan Mahara today attributed the ‘success’ to the public’s growing discontent with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. The Congress state headquarters, Rajiv Bhawan, witnessed jubilant celebrations as Mahara joined party workers in marking what he described as a decisive shift in public sentiment.

While addressing the media and party members, at Congress Bhawan here, today, Mahara congratulated the people of the state for what he termed a democratic rebuke to the BJP’s arrogance and pride. He accused the ruling party of attempting to manipulate the electoral process by misusing the State Election Commission, asserting that the public’s verdict delivered through ballot papers had not only foiled such efforts but also delivered a clear and resounding message to the government. Mahara maintained that the results of the panchayat polls reflect widespread dissatisfaction and serve as a warning to the BJP leadership.

Urging unity within the ranks of the Congress, Mahara called upon workers to channel this momentum into a collective effort for the upcoming assembly elections. He expressed confidence that the people of Uttarakhand are now looking towards the Congress with renewed hope and anticipation. According to him, the outcome of the panchayat elections signals a turning point in state politics and demonstrates that a cohesive and spirited campaign can pave the way for the return of the Congress government in Uttarakhand.
