DEHRADUN, 30 Aug: Ecole Globale proudly hosted the 3rd edition of the Sardarni Kawaljeet Kaur Memorial Basketball Tournament for Girls from Wednesday, to Saturday. The tournament brought together ten prestigious schools from across the region, competing in a league-cum-knockout format that ensured an intense and engaging schedule of matches.
The opening ceremony was held with great enthusiasm, setting a spirited tone for the tournament. The event began with a warm welcome extended to the participating teams, followed by an inspiring oath-taking ceremony, reaffirming the values of fair play, integrity, and teamwork. Chief guest Tushal Singh, a professional international basketball player who has proudly represented India on various global platforms, graced the occasion with his presence. His words of encouragement and his own journey in the sport served as a source of inspiration for all the young athletes present.
The league matches kicked off on a high note, showcasing both raw talent and strategic gameplay. The teams demonstrated remarkable coordination and skill from the very start. As the competition moved into the knockout stages, the intensity increased, with close matches keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.
The agility of the players on the court, sharp reflexes, and accurate passing reflected the hours of training behind their performance. Some teams displayed remarkable defensive formations, cutting off key plays from their opponents, while others impressed with fast-paced attacks that drew loud cheers.
Individual brilliance shone through at many moments: quick steals, precision dribbling under pressure, and seamless coordination between teammates were consistent throughout the tournament. Players showed a mature understanding of the game, reading the court and adjusting strategies in real time.
The tournament concluded with Wynberg Allen School emerging as the winner and Ecole Globale bagging the Runner Up trophy. Meerut Public Girls School was the 2nd Runner Up. Ridhima Gurjar and Ashmin Chiraniya from Ecole Globale won the trophies for most promising player and Best Scorer respectively. The winning teams and outstanding players were felicitated by Chief Guest Faisal Khan a professional national Basketball player.
This tournament stood as a true celebration of passion, perseverance, and the empowering spirit of girls’ sports.
