Doon University Student Council Elections held

Dehradun, 11 Sep: The process for the Doon University Student Council elections began on 3 September with the notification and the publication of the voter list. In the first phase, on 8 September, the election process for School Society members from undergraduate and postgraduate courses was conducted in the university’s 10 schools, resulting in the election of a total of 36 representatives.
From the elected School Committee members, nominations were filed on 9 September for the positions of President, Vice President, General Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Treasurer of the Student Council. The election process was conducted peacefully, today, in which Anshuman Nautiyal was elected President, Krish Joshi, Vice President, Shikhar Kumar Pal, Secretary, Amrita, Joint Secretary, and Khyati Pant, Treasurer.

Chief Election Officer and Dean of Student Welfare, Professor HC Purohit, called the Doon University Student Council election process excellent and ideal, stating that no expenditure is required from the students. A student wishing to contest the elections remains motivated to represent without spending money or creating unnecessary commotion. Each school’s elected representative becomes a member of the council’s executive body. All work together for the development of the university to create conducive teaching- learning environment on campus to improve the quality of education.
To contest the election, it is mandatory for a student to have 60% marks in exams and 75% attendance in class.
The newly elected office bearers were administered oath by the University Vice Chancellor, Professor Surekha Dangwal. On this occasion, she said that the university administration, teachers, and staff are working with full commitment and dedication to develop a student-centred teaching and research ecosystem.
“Our effort is to build a university that is not only the pride of the state but also emerges as a prestigious institution in the country. In this endeavour, students play a significant role because after completing their education, they will fulfil their responsibilities in society, and their excellent performance will be our true success,” it was stated on the occasion.
Today, Professor Ashish Kumar, Dr Prachi Pathak, Dr Komal, Professor SS Suthar, Dr Sunit Naithani, Prashant Mehta, and Dinesh Purohit played an important role in conducting the election process.
In the School Society elections, all department heads and teachers, including Professor RP Mamgai, Professor Gajendra Singh, Professor Rajesh Kumar, Dr Chetna Pokhriyal, Dr Narendra Rawal, Dr Swati Bisht, Dr Himani Sharma, Dr Achlesh Davare, Dr Dhriti Dhaudiyal, and Dr Vipin Saini, contributed significantly.
During the oath-taking ceremony, the University’s Registrar, Durgesh Dimri, along with teachers, staff, and students, were also present.
