Dehradun, 20 Nov: Newly appointed Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee President Ganesh Godiyal today claimed that Congress has always upheld its commitment to ensuring justice for the person standing in the last row of society. Godiyal made these remarks during an interaction with a delegation of the Valmiki community, which made a courtesy call at the Congress headquarters today to extend their greetings and felicitate him on assuming the leadership of the State Congress.

On this occasion, the delegation members honoured Godiyal with a traditional turban and a memento representing the Valmiki pilgrimage site and conveyed their congratulations and best wishes for his tenure. In response, Godiyal expressed his gratitude to the community and reiterated the Congress Party’s enduring commitment to the principle of ‘Sarva Dharma Sambhava’, or equal respect for all religions. He affirmed that the Congress party would continue to uphold this inclusive ethos in both spirit and action.

Godiyal also emphasised that the Congress has consistently prioritised the rights and welfare of the weaker and deprived sections of society. He remarked that, while assistance to the strong can occasionally be delayed, the Congress tradition is to stand firmly with the underprivileged. He assured the delegation members that the concerns of the underprivileged are addressed by the Congress with urgency and compassion. He assured the delegation that all issues and suggestions pertaining to the Valmiki community would be taken up on a priority basis and pursued with sincerity.

Among those present to offer support to the Congress and Godiyal, included senior social worker and Congress leader Virendra Pokhriyal, party spokesperson Mohan Kumar Kala, Ashish Desai, President of the Valmiki Seva Samiti, along with Kailash Valmiki, Surendra Sood, OP Varun, Anil Bagdi, Deepak Panwar, Sanjay Virla, Nitin Chanchal, Shubham Chand, Manas Chinalia, Vansh Choudhary and Karan Dabral.
