Dehradun, 20 Nov: Senior BJP leader and former MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion is once again finding himself at the centre of controversy, this time over an alleged assault involving his son, Divye Pratap Singh. The victim of this alleged assault is R Yashovardhan, son of former Uttarakhand Chief Secretary S Ramaswamy. A case has been registered against Divye Pratap Singh in Dehradun in connection with the incident. In the wake of this development, the Dehradun Transport Department has issued a notice to Pranav Singh Champion, warning that the Registration Certificate (RC) of his vehicle may be cancelled if he fails to respond within the stipulated time.

It may also be recalled that, in addition to this, arms licences of Divye Pratap Singh have also been suspended by the Haridwar District Magistrate in connection with the same incident.

The incident reportedly took place on the night of 15 November on Rajpur Road in Dehradun, where Divye Pratap Singh is alleged to have assaulted R Yashovardhan following a dispute over a car overtaking manoeuvre. The vehicle involved in the incident, a Toyota Land Cruiser bearing registration number UK07DN0001, is registered in the name of Pranav Singh Champion.

It has come to notice that the same vehicle has a history of repeated traffic violations. According to data available on the mParivahan mobile application, the vehicle has accumulated a total of 28 challans over the past five years. Most of the challans are related to speeding and pollution-related offences. The Champion family usually resides in Dalanwala in Dehradun and the neighbours claim that Divye Singh is often seen speeding the Land Cruiser on narrow roads of Dalanwala.

It may be noted that Land Cruiser has been registered at the Dehradun Regional Transport Office in 2019 and has since been flagged for violations across multiple states, including Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
