Dehradun, 20 Nov: The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, under its ADIP Scheme for persons with disabilities, will distribute assistive devices to 169 beneficiaries previously identified for support. The camp, to be organised with the cooperation of the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Kanpur, will be held on 22 November (Saturday) at 11 a.m. on the premises of the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIVH) in Dehradun.
The event will include the distribution of motorised tricycles. The Chief Guest will be Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, while Saurabh Thapliyal, Mayor of Dehradun Municipal Corporation, and Khajan Das, MLA from Rajpur, will attend as Special Guests.
It may be recalled that under the Government of India’s ADIP Scheme, persons with disabilities holding valid UDID cards are identified and provided with free assistive devices. The government has simplified the scheme by accepting a monthly income certificate of Rs 22,500 issued by the respective councillor or village head as valid. It has also been proposed that assessment and identification camps under the ADIP and Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana will soon be organised across various development blocks of the district.
