DEHRADUN, 4 Dec: Railway passengers travelling to and from Dehradun and Yog Nagari Rishikesh will face disruption on December 7 & 8, as the train services at both stations will remain suspended for two days. No train will arrive at or depart from Dehradun Railway Station during this period. Services originating from Dehradun and Rishikesh will instead begin from Haridwar, Laksar, Najibabad and Saharanpur, including certain services linked with Haridwar. Around twenty railway bridges will also be taken up for repair simultaneously.
The Moradabad Division has issued an order stating that interlocking work of the newly constructed loco shed at Dehradun Railway Station has been scheduled, necessitating a complete closure of the station for two day (7 &8 ). Consequently, the originating and terminating stations of all trains bound for Dehradun have been changed. As a result, trains such as the Howrah–Dehradun Express, Lucknow–Dehradun Express, New Delhi–Dehradun Express, Old Delhi–Dehradun Express, Kota–Dehradun Express, Udaipur–Rishikesh Express, Kathgodam–Dehradun Express and Subedarganj–Dehradun Express will be short-terminated at Haridwar, Meerut, Saharanpur, Najibabad or Laksar, with their return services departing from these respective stations. Similarly, trains from Barmer, Sabarmati, Shri Ganganagar and other destinations heading towards Dehradun or Rishikesh will operate only up to the designated alternative stations.
A new loco shed has been established in Dehradun for the maintenance, repair and cleaning of train engines, and the project is now nearing completion. The shed is being interlocked with all the station lines, enabling trains to be moved to the facility from any line, accompanied by necessary changes to the signalling system. For this reason, Dehradun Railway Station is being closed for two days, during which eighteen trains will not be operating from the Dehradun terminal and will instead run from Haridwar, Laksar, Najibabad and Saharanpur, requiring passengers to board from the altered stations.
Station Superintendent Ravindra Kumar stated that the two-day closure and diversion is due to the interlocking work and assured that adequate arrangements had been made to prevent inconvenience to passengers during this period.
