140 Assistant Profs posted in Govt Medical Colleges

Dehradun, 22 Dec: The shortage of faculty in the state’s government medical colleges will no longer pose an obstacle, it is being stated. Under the Department of Medical Education, 140 Assistant Professors selected through the State Medical Service Selection Board have been posted in various government medical colleges across the state. The Medical Education Minister, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, has approved the posting proposal of the selected Assistant Professors. These appointments will strengthen the academic environment in medical colleges and provide fresh momentum to teaching, training, and research activities.

The state government is continuously making efforts to develop medical education in accordance with high standards. While modern medical equipment is being provided in medical colleges, specialist doctors are also being appointed on a large scale. Accordingly, first postings have been allotted to these selected faculty members in different government medical colleges across the state.

Of these, 41 Assistant Professors have been posted in various departments at Government Doon Medical College. Similarly, 12 Assistant Professors have been posted at Government Medical College Haridwar, 33 at Government Medical College Srinagar, 24 at Government Medical College Haldwani, 2 at Government Medical College Rudrapur, and 28 at Government Medical College Almora.

Faculty members have been appointed in more than two dozen departments in medical colleges. Notably, 15 Assistant Professors have been posted in the Department of Anaesthesia. Similarly, 7 each in Anatomy and Paediatrics; 3 each in Blood Bank, Radiotherapy, and Dermatology; 12 each in Community Medicine and Pathology; 2 in Dentistry; 1 each in Emergency Medicine and Forensic Medicine; 5 each in General Medicine, General Surgery, Respiratory Medicine, and Pharmacology; 9 each in Microbiology and Orthopaedics; 8 in Obstetrics and Gynaecology; 4 in Ophthalmology; and 6 each in Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), Biochemistry, Psychiatry, and Physiology have been posted.

It has been stated that the deployment of faculty in all departments as per prescribed standards will not only ensure quality education for medical students but will also accelerate training and research work. In addition, health services in hospitals attached to the medical colleges will be further strengthened, ensuring better treatment for patients.
