Dehradun, 25 Dec: Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, while celebrating the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister, the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee as Good Governance Day, paid heartfelt tributes by offering floral tributes before his portrait in Garhi Cantt Dakra, here, today.
On this occasion, Joshi extended his warm wishes and congratulations to all on Good Governance Day. He described Vajpayee as a Hindi poet, journalist, and a powerful orator. Joshi also said that Vajpayee was an “Ajatshatru” (a person with no enemies).
Ganesh Joshi stated that Atal Bihari Vajpayee had a special connection with Uttarakhand. He emphasised that it was due to Vajpayee’s decisive role that Uttarakhand became a separate state after decades of struggle. He also credited Vajpayee for the successful implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, which connected rural areas, reflecting his farsighted vision.
The Minister praised Vajpayee for his commitment to the nation, stating that his entire life was dedicated to the country. He mentioned that Atal Bihari Vajpayee set an exemplary model of good governance. He recalled how Vajpayee strengthened Hindi by delivering a speech in the language at the United Nations.
He further highlighted that Vajpayee was not just an inspiration for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), but for all political parties. Joshi recalled the time when the government fell by a single vote at the centre, and although Vajpayee had the opportunity to form a government, he chose to respect the public mandate and never compromised on his principles.
Minister Joshi emphasised that the BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in the state, continues to work for progress, following Vajpayee’s footsteps.
He also praised Vajpayee for his leadership during the Kargil War and his decisions to send the bodies of martyrs wrapped in the national flag with full military honours to their families. Additionally, it was Vajpayee who decided to provide gas agencies and petrol pumps to the families of martyrs.
The gathering was also addressed by Mandal President Jyoti Kotia, who remembered Vajpayee as a source of inspiration for all party workers.
