New Delhi, 15 Apr: At the “Vision of India – Viksit Bharat 2047” event organised at a five-star hotel in New Delhi, actor Abhinav Chauhan was felicitated by Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, for his outstanding performance in the first-ever Jaunsari-language film “Mairai Gaon Ki Baat”.

The Minister praised Abhinav’s remarkable acting and acknowledged how the film has brought national recognition to the rich tribal folk culture of the Jaunsar-Bawar region of Uttarakhand.

Abhinav Chauhan has played the lead role in two regional films—Uttarakhandi film “Asgar” and Jaunsar’s first-ever film “Mairai Gaon Ki Baat”. His performance in Asgar had already left a strong impression, making waves across 15 cities in India, and now, Mairai Gaon Ki Baat has also received immense appreciation. With the back-to-back success of these two films, Abhinav has started receiving offers from Bollywood as well.

Originally from the small village of Fateu in Jaunsar-Bawar and raised in Dehradun, Abhinav began his education at St Jude’s School, later completing his 12th from Ann Mary School. He pursued a BA (Hons) in Economics from Ramjas College, Delhi University, which became a turning point in his life. While still a student, he directed and starred in a socially themed short film, winning first prize at Delhi University.

Abhinav also participated in MTV’s reality show Mr & Miss 7 States, and went on to act in well-known web series such as Fun se Fantasy (JioCinema), Doon Kaand (Voot), Peshawar (MX Player), and Eklavya (Doordarshan), continually honing his craft.

After spending some formative years in Delhi, Abhinav moved to Mumbai to further his acting career. He trained with renowned acting coach Saurabh Sachdeva at The Actor’s Truth Acting School. A man of many talents, Abhinav is also a gifted singer. He has trained under acclaimed vocalist Vandana Srivastava, and released several hit songs such as Thandi Thandi Hawa, Ram Ki Kasam, Meri Sheela, and Haripur Mein Anand Sajega. His song Kodo Ka Kodua was a major success.

Thanks to his diverse talent, Abhinav was also chosen to represent Uttarakhand at the 73rd Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, where he performed the song “Devbhoomi Ki Pavan Dharti,” earning great appreciation.

Undoubtedly, his work not only promotes the unique culture of Jaunsar-Bawar but also marks a turning point for regional-language films, opening doors to employment and enterprise through art and cinema.

Abhinav Chauhan is truly a rising star, bringing pride to the Fateu village of Jaunsar-Bawar, and to the entire state of Uttarakhand.
